Associations
The Bray and District Club is one of 23 in the Republic which has close links to the 18 clubs in Northern Ireland. Each club in Ireland belongs to the National Association. The National Association has a National President and committee who oversees all the national and international projects and who communicates regularly with each club. National Association meetings are held regularly throughout the year, each club sends a representative to accumulate and distribute relevant information.
As a truly worldwide organisation, for administration purposes there are four federations; America, Europe, South Pacific and Ireland & Great Britain, which is often referred to as SIGBI. Every four years there is an International Convention. Many club members attend this to support the work of Soroptimisim on an International Scale. In Sydney two years ago the International project, which all clubs support over the next few years is “Women Survivors of War” . This will help survivors of wars in Afghanistan, Bosnia and Rwanda. |
