The Bray & District Club have been selected to host the National Project for the next two years.  This means that  Soroptimists from all over Ireland will support their project for the National Rehabilitation Hospital, Dun Laoghaire.  The aim here is to provide much needed essential equipment for the physiotherapy unit of the hospital.

Many members have had a relative or friend who have passed through the doors of the hospital. Our own club member Mary Doyle spent many months in the care of the hospital having been struck by a debilitating illness which left her paralysed.  Having received the necessary essential care in the hospital thankfully Mary regained mobility.

The National Rehabilitation Hospital currently operates 120 patient beds along with an outpatient department, which includes outside referrals.  For every bed there is three patients around the country waiting for it.   The hospital provides national care in the following categories;-

-        Spinal injuries
-        Acquired Brain injuries
-        Stroke
-        Neurological disorders
-        Amputees
-        Paediatrics

If you would like to become involved in this fundraising programme, we would be delighted to hear from you. We urge members of clubs to look towards corporate sponsorship and organise something special once a year like a corporate golf outing. Denise in the Bray Club would be happy to assist you with ideas or further information.  You can email her at soroptimists@eircom.net
